BEFORE before and after of a project I just wrapped up; a mid-century home tucked into a slope, under fabulous sycamores and oaks, hugged by a stream, just mulch and rocks when we began. we terraced the slope in broken concrete and planted mainly california natives, adding Japanese maples to reference the gardens of Japan that inspired the owner. A California native grass meadow will grow long and wild on the slope and stay manicured on the lower level. Theres a “fern gully” and a fire pit for gatherings by the creek. All the rocks and boulders we sourced from the site. Such a fun project-so excited to see it grow and evolve!
